Stays & Tables

An honest impression

I don't do check-in times. I tell you whether a place has a soul — and whether I'd go back.

✧ Draft — brand-deal & SEO surface; named picks are a [LACUNA] for the author. Title and text pass through the author before launch; [LACUNA] marks raw material only she can provide.

I don't do check-in times and Wi-Fi passwords. If you want logistics, the booking page has them. What I can give you is the thing the booking page can't: whether a place has a soul, and what it felt like to be inside it.

This is where I write down honest impressions of the tables and the stays that stayed with me. Sensory, opinionated, a little unfair sometimes — the way a real impression is. Never a checklist. Just: was it beautiful, was it true, would I go back.

The test I use

One question, really. Did the place mean it? You can feel the difference between a hotel that was designed to photograph well and one that was designed to be lived in for a night. Between a restaurant chasing a guide and one cooking because that's the food they believe in. I'm drawn to the ones that meant it, at any price, in any postcode.

The boat in Istanbul, moored against the bridge, grilling fish and folding it into bread — that meant it. A plastic stool on the kerb and one of the best things I ate all trip. Meaning it has nothing to do with the tablecloth.

The stays & tables index

Did the place mean it? That's the only review I know how to write.
Persona-safe. EN, Bea voice.

the deeper cut

The person behind the feed

These pages are the open layer: the ideas, the taste, the way I see. The life that made them — the real story, told in full — doesn't live out here.

It lives behind a paywall, under another name: long essays, the whole truth, the book as it happens.
